All peoples must be represented and served by their respective governments, even if they reside outside of their homeland.

An Embassy is an important institution that not only serves to house an ambassador, but also to function as an important point of administrative contact between migrants or travelers and their home countries.

However, embassies are typically located in the capital city of the host country, which is Canberra for Australia.

A consulate, to my current understanding, is like a smaller branch of an embassy.

The actual/official embassy of Mauritius is known as the 'Mauritius High Commission', which is situated in Canberra. 'High Commission' is a term reserved for situations wherein both the host country and the guest embassy belong to the Commmonwealth. This is the institution which has authority over the Mauritian Consulate in Sydney
